POSITION SUMMARY 

The Hospice of South Georgia unpaid Marketing Intern, will be a dynamic, self-starter assisting our marketing and communications efforts for Hospice of South Georgia (HOSG) and The Tree House, our revenue-based resale shop. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while working for a well-known community based nonprofit organization. The marketing intern will be responsible for creating and developing a marketing plan that can be used for Hospice of South Georgia and The Tree House. The intern will also perform a variety of marketing and communications duties to promote the hospice health system. Key responsibilities include writing and editing copy, execution of marketing plans and community events, and social media content creation. As a member of the hospice interdisciplinary team, and The Tree House team, the marketing intern will be responsible to learn the different Hospice disciplines (volunteer service management, spiritual services coordinator, social worker, bereavement coordinator and hospice nursing disciplines) in order to fully understand the mission of Hospice of South Georgia and The Tree House. The marketing intern will also work in collaboration with the Hospice of South Georgia Manager of Physician Relations & Marketing. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES 

  • Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space. 
  • Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations. 
  • Must complete Hospice of South Georgia interdisciplinary team introduction. • Must possess excellent human relations/interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written 
  • Demonstrated ability to work as member of interdisciplinary team to help understand the unique needs of the terminally ill 
  • Demonstrated understanding of and adherence to the hospice philosophy, including age-specific issues of pediatric and geriatric populations 
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to and work with persons of diverse cultural backgrounds and different lifestyles 
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, handle pressure and delicate situations 
  • Must be self-motivated with demonstrated ability to work interdependently as well as independently as different circumstances arise 
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms 
  • Should have basic knowledge of traditional and digital marketing, advertising, public relations, and writing for the web. 
WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION 

Considerable sitting, standing, lifting, and walking required. Primarily indoor office situation with comfortable conditions. Occasional hours on evening shift and weekends for special projects and events.
