Department: EMS - AMBULANCE SERVICE
Schedule: Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift,

POSITION SUMMARY 

Assists with all processes and programs that ensures SGMC EMS personnel receive proper and adequate training/continuing education to maintain all appropriate levels of certification. Maintains and documents training and certifications for SGMC EMS staff. Procures, develops, coordinates, and implements training needs for current staff and orientation of new staff. Responsible for assisting with the coordination between the department and other departments/agencies regarding training and staff development. Assists with the following: Department’s standards of care and treatment modalities with coordination and approval of the Department Medical Director and EMS Chief; Competency assessments of all staff; Department quality initiative program in coordination with the Quality and Safety Captain. Serves as liaison officer to first responder and emergency medical dispatch programs. Responsible for assisting with the management of clinical equipment and medical supplies. Functions as an EMS Captain (shift Captain) as needed or required. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES 

  • Licensed as a paramedic by the Georgia Department of Human Resources, for at least five (5) years. 
  • Current instructorships in CPR, ACLS, PHTLS, and PALS is required. FEMA NIMS 100, 200, 700 and 800 required. NIMS 300 and 400 required within 18 months of hire. 
  • Critical Care Paramedic certification required within 18 months of hire. 
  • Current Instructor Coordinator status through DPH is required. Instructor Coordinator status must be at least EMT-A level. 
  • An Associate degree in EMS or related health, education field is required. 
  • A Bachelor degree in EMS, education, technical studies, or related field is preferred. 
  • Comprehensive computer skills ability necessary. 
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must have and maintain a good motor vehicle operations driving record in accordance with company insurance standards and SGMC Policy. 
WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION 

Working conditions mostly in a controlled office, classroom setting. Must face adverse, physical conditions and challenges when responding to emergency callas as a Paramedic. Physical abilities include: lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling without limitations. Must be able to lift and carry 100-pound stretcher, with patient, using proper techniques to prevent injuries to self and patient. Must be able to carry equipment and travel on foot for several hundred yards. May be required to perform duties for extended periods of time in critical situations.
