Department: NUCLEAR MEDICINE
Schedule: Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift, 6:00am-2:30pm

POSITION SUMMARY:

Directs Nuclear Medicine Department activities, maintains standards of quality; supervises all technical aspects of department, monitors and reports all QA activities in department. Performs a variety of scintigraphic procedures using gamma cameras and other scintillation devices including PET/CT scanner as needed. Responsible for day to day operation of the Nuclear Medicine Department in coordinating procedures and ordering supplies. Responsible for adhering to the Rules; Regulations of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Serves as liaison between Nuclear Medicine and Cardiology. Coordinates radiopharmaceutical doses with Nuclear Pharmacy.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists in Radiography—ARRT or Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board—NMTCB. 
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Staff Nuclear Medicine Technologist. 
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of personnel at all levels within and external to the organization. 
  • Ability to develop and grow a competent, caring team. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly with, and care for, a diverse population of patients/family units of all ages, variety of cultures, etc. 
  • Flexible in work schedule, assignments and work load. 
  • Ability to formulate memos, document clinical information, maintains accurate quality control records, etc. 
  • Ability to develop, implement and interpret the policies and procedures of South Georgia Medical Center, regulatory agencies’ standards and rules, reimbursement rules, etc. 
  • Strong clinical and leadership skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS- ADA INFORMATION: 

Duties require considerable sitting, standing, stooping, bending, lifting (in excess of 50 pounds), pushing objects (wheelchairs, stretchers). Comfortable conditions, subject to irregular schedules, including weekends, exposed to high levels of stress. Work may require exposure to communicable diseases.
