Schedule: Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift, 0730-1600

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Bariatric Program Coordinator is responsible for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the program and the effect on patient care. This position will act as the main point of contact for the program operations, ensuring patient satisfaction, managing patient flow, and ensuring the marketing programs are properly executed and maintained. This position develops and executes all activities related to Bariatric services throughout the organization to ensure excellent quality of care, patient safety, and fiscal responsibility of the program, while satisfying all regulatory guidelines. For purposes of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery accreditation, this person serves as the Bariatric Coordinator resource for SGMC Health’s program.  

EDUCATION 

  • Active RN license in the State of Georgia or compact RN license required. 
  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred. Associates Degree Nursing Required. 
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers required. 
  • MBS Clinical Reviewer Certification required within twelve (12) months of hire. Must maintain active certification. 

EXPERIENCE 

3 years nursing experience with demonstrated competence in medical/surgical/procedural patient care. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • Demonstrates superior communication skills, a high degree of integrity, solid character, and sound judgment. 
  • Demonstrates clinical competence in relevant area of nursing practice. 
  • Demonstrates ability to lead and motivate others, problem solve, and resolve issues. 
  • Maintains knowledge of the preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative processes (pathways, protocols, and all elements associated with the coordination of patient care). 
  • Knowledge of how to implement/update evidence-based practices into the existing facility framework in alignment with the MBS Director/MBS Committee. 
  • The work requires knowledge of the policies, procedures, and regulations that govern nursing practice and the Manager must exercise sound independent judgement and collaboration to plan and accomplish goals. 

WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION 

Working conditions include considerable time walking, bending, stretching, and standing. Close contact with the people which can include exposure to infectious diseases, potentially harmful or hazardous drugs and other substances.
