POSITION SUMMARY
• The Sterile Processing Manager coordinates the overall services and activities of the Sterile Processing Department in order to ensure the operational efficiency of the daily OR/SSC schedule. The manager is responsible to ensure quality of all phases of the sterilization/distribution process for instrumentation/supplies and the processes that lead to continuous performance improvement. His/her role includes clinical practice, staff development and continuing education, management and leadership, consultation and support. The manager works with members of administration, physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary staff to assure that lines of communication are open and processes for quality patient care and problem resolution are in place as well as understands, utilizes and is able to interpret and follow hospital and department policies and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Associates degree and/or Bachelor's degree in business or healthcare preferred.
• Completion of Sterile Processing program required.
• Minimum of 2 years of OR training as a Registered Nurse or Surgical Technologist preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of acute care Sterile
• Processing experience required.
• Documented experience in a management role or equivalent experience as a charge resource in an operating room or a sterile processing department.
• CSPM or CRST Required
• Current CPR Required
• CIS (Central Instrument Specialist) and CHL (Certified Healthcare Leader) certifications preferred.

• Regularly required to walk and reach and stretch with hands and arms. Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects and control knobs of equipment and instruments. Frequently required to stand for long periods of time; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and talk or hear. Must regularly lift and/or move 20 pounds. Vision abilities for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to adjust focus. Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and with explosive materials. Occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation. May involve exposures to communicable disease, and injury from sharp instruments. Persons must have no known allergies to detergents or germicides.
