POSITION SUMMARY 
Responsible for policy management and data abstraction/input in support of quality measurement, analysis, and improvement across SGMC. Participates in regulatory requirements/standards which may include nursing sensitive measures, accreditation, registries and other quality metrics. The Quality Excellence Specialist I supports interventions through interdepartmental collaboration and planning, multi-disciplinary communication and implementation/analysis of new care delivery processes impacting quality metrics. Serve as a resource for policy development and revision. Assist in achieving goals of high quality, cost effective patient care and services, while demonstrating compliance with Joint Commission, CMS and other regulatory agencies. Participate in collaborative efforts with the Director by providing complete, accurate and timely feedback on status of compliance and collaboration for improvement of quality metrics and/or accreditation standards. Reports unusual or questionable situations to Director/CMO. Assists the organization in maintaining preparedness for accreditation and licensure surveys Perform daily chart review and documentation of nursing sensitive indicators, registry and selected quality indicators as directed. Responds to requests for data aggregation and analysis. Educates Providers/clinical staff on compliance with quality measures/reporting. Serve as a resource to IS for integration of electronic processes impacting quality metrics/data. Participates in patient safety activities as assigned. Performs other duties as requested or assigned. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES 

  • Education/Licensure/Certification: o Clinical Licensure Preferred. o Certification in Healthcare Quality desired. 
  • Two years recent clinical experience preferred. 
  • Previous experience with PI and Patient Safety desired. 
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of personnel at all levels within the organization. 
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills 
  • Flexible in work schedule, able to prioritize. 
  • Ability to formulate letters, memos, document clinical information on abstracts, etc. 
  • Ability to develop, implement and interpret the policies and procedures of South Georgia Medical Center. 
  • Ability to interpret accrediting and regulatory standards. 
  • Strong computer skills required; MS Office, Power Point. 

WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION
Works in office setting and on all units in organization. Requires considerable reading, mental effort. Requires long periods standing and long periods sitting. At times may be subject to high levels of stress. Requires light lifting (not to exceed 25 pounds), walking, standing, bending, and pushing objects.
