Schedule: PRN, 12 HR Day Shift,

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing basic respiratory care modalities, under the direct supervision of an RCP. According to meeting compliance with school- & hospital-approved competencies, the student respiratory therapist Sets up, monitors and adjusts oxygen delivery devices. Administers aerosolized medications via metered dose inhalers and hand-held nebulizers. Administers chest physiotherapy procedures. Performs suctioning on patients with artificial airways. Collects and analyzes samples for arterial blood gas analysis. Assist with the repossessing of patient care equipment. Documents patient care in the departmental data management system 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :

  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time senior or a recent graduate of an AMA-accredited Respiratory Care program and Registry Eligible. 
  • Temporary Permit license with the State of Georgia must be obtained within 90 days of graduation. 
  • Must provide documentation of successful completion of relevant clinical rotations. 
  • Must have Basic Life Support certification. 
  • Must be able to meet the work requirements for PRN staff. 
WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION: 

Comfortable indoor environment. Subject to hazards of flammable and explosive gases. Subject to irregular schedules, including weekends. Subject to high levels of stress. Subject to infectious diseases. Requires considerable walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, lifting (in excess of 50 pounds), and pushing (equipment, carts, beds, stretchers and wheelchairs). Requires ability to work in a confined, often stressful environment. Requires the ability to follow prescribed techniques, policies and procedures. Needs the capability of close attention to detail. Needs the ability to assess and respond to changes in patient condition.
