POSITION SUMMARY 

The APRN is under the direction of the supervising Physician Medical Staff member.  Duties to include:

Develop, implement and manager individualized treatment plans, which may include wound debridement, dressing selection, and the use of advanced wound care technologies to include Negative Pressure Therapy and Ultrasound Mist Therapy.

Perform assessments of patients with acute or complex wounds, including pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, surgical wounds and traumatic wounds.

Educate patients and their families regarding wound care, dressing changes and lifestyle changes to support healing.  

Work closely with attending physicians, surgeons, and the multidisciplinary team to discuss treatment plans and patient progress. Provide consultation for other clinical teams regarding wound management. 

EDUCATION 

  • Graduate of an accredited, post-basic educational program for nurse practitioners. 
  • Georgia Nurse Practitioner License 
  • Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. 
  • Maintains biennial renewal of Board Authorization to practice as a Nurse Practitioner. 
  • CPR Certification 

EXPERIENCE 

  • Acute care, particularly in wound care or related fields such as surgical care highly preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES 

  • Flexible in work schedule, assignments, workloads, setting priorities and utilizing problem solving techniques. 
  • Ability to analyze regulations, standards, clinical issues, and patient outcomes. 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and behavioral communication skills. 

WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION 

Works primarily in hospital setting, including clinical/patient care areas. Considerable walking, standing, stooping, bending, lifting (occasionally in excess of fifty (50) pounds). Mental effort required to assess, plan, and make or recommend decisions in complex environment. Likely to be exposed to blood/body fluids, including infectious diseases. Duties require considerable walking, stooping, standing, bending, pushing, lifting (possibly in excess of 50 lbs.), occasional times of sitting, twisting, and kneeling. Ability to operate medical equipment instruments and office equipment. Require visual and auditory acuity, balance, hand dexterity, mobility of body, and mechanical ability. Physical functional capacity for healthcare workers as defined by the Saunders Method (very heavy).
