Schedule: Full Time, 8HR Evening Shift, 1500-2300

POSITION SUMMARY

Coordinates clinical activities necessary to expedite surgery schedule for an 8 hour period, on a delegated bases, to ensure optimal utilization of staff; resources to complete daily OR schedule. Functions as first line liaison person for physicians, staff, and patients. To maintain continuity between Holding Area, Boardrunner,; Physicians. A main function of the OR Desk Manager is to facilitate completion of the surgical schedule through direction and cooperation of staff and minimize surgical delays with room turnover. Areas of Concentration: Completion of surgical schedule in a timely, safe and efficient manner. Assistance to surgeons through provision of adequately prepared OR team members when making assignments. Delegation of responsibilities and duties to technical and ancillary personnel. Assist with the training and development of new staff. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES 

Education/Certification. Previous experience as LPN, RN, Surgical Technologist or related field such as HUC or PCT. Current CPR certification. Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple and complex correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to patients, patient family members, visitors and other organization personnel. Ability to add and subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed and complex written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a multiple combination of concrete variables in standardized situations. Flexible in work schedule, assignments, and work load. Ability to understand and follow the policies and procedures of South Georgia Medical Center and regulatory agencies’ standards and rules. Demonstrate skills in verbal and non-verbal communication. Demonstrate ability to adapt to new situations, set priorities and utilize problem-solving techniques.
