POSITION SUMMARY
Directs CVI Vascular Ultrasound Department activities, maintains standards of quality, supervises all technical aspects of department, monitors and reports all QA activities in the department. Responsible for day to day operations of the department in the coordination of procedures, staffing and ordering of supplies. Performs a variety of duties in performing routine and special ultrasound imaging. Performs vascular and arterial studies in ultrasound imaging. Performs initial interpretation and evaluation of procedure.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Graduate of an approved school of Radiology Technology or Sonography that meets requirements to sit for the certification test given by the ARRT, ARDMS or CCI.
- Certified by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists in Radiology—ARRT or
- Certified by the Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers—RDMS. or
- Certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist by the ARDMS—RVT or
- Certification as a Registered Vascular Sonographer by the CCI.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Staff Ultrasound Technologist or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. 2 years’ experience in supervisory capacity is strongly desired.
- Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of personnel at all levels within and external to organization. Ability to develop and grow a competent, caring team.
- Ability to communicate clearly with, and care for, a diverse population of patients/family units of all ages, variety of cultures, etc.
- Flexible in work schedule, assignments and work load.
- Ability to formulate memos & document clinical information, etc.
- Ability to develop, implement and interpret the policies and procedures of South Georgia Medical Center, regulatory agencies’ standards and rules, reimbursement rules, etc.
- Strong clinical, leadership and instructional skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION
Duties require considerable sitting, standing, stooping bending, lifting (in excess of 50 pounds), and pushing objects (wheelchairs, stretchers). Comfortable conditions, subject to irregular schedules, including weekends, exposed to high levels of stress. Work may require exposure to communicable diseases.
