POSITION SUMMARY
The Special Procedures Respiratory Navigator is a specialized role within the Respiratory Therapy department that provides expert clinical support for critical care areas and special procedures, with a primary focus on the Ion robotic-assisted bronchoscopy service, inpatient bronchoscopies, interventional pulmonology, and critical care transports. This position ensures the safe execution of advanced pulmonary procedures, collaborates with physicians in procedural settings, and provides education and training to respiratory therapy staff. Ensures administrative duties such as patient scheduling, referral tracking, or multidisciplinary case coordination are executed timely and efficiently for superb patient outcomes and service. This position is dedicated to special procedures and procedural respiratory therapy, ensuring that critical care and interventional pulmonology patients receive expert respiratory support.
EDUCATION
Minimum AAS in Respiratory Therapy Technology from a Co-ARC approved program. Bachelors Degree in related clinical field preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 3 years of respiratory therapy critical care experience, including advanced procedure experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
WORKING CONDITIONS/ ADA INFORMATION
This role primarily operates in a hospital setting, including ICU, procedure rooms, and interventional pulmonology suites. Some office-based work for training and documentation may be required. May encounter infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and biohazards. Requires compliance with hospital infection control and PPE policies. Frequent standing, walking, stooping, and bending for extended periods. Requires the ability to lift and move patients, medical equipment, and supplies (up to 50 pounds). Manual dexterity and ability to operate specialized respiratory and bronchoscopy equipment. Schedule may include weekends, nights, and on-call shifts based on procedural needs and emergency situations. Must be flexible to adjust to emergent procedural cases and ICU support. Travel requirements will be minimal, but may occasionally be required for training or system-wide initiatives. This position is considered essential personnel and may be required to report during hospital emergencies or disaster response situations.
